Young actors transforming into characters from ancient Japan got a helping hand from an expert whose work has been seen by millions of TV viewers tuning into a popular crime drama.

Make-up artist Cat Wild switched from the tense detective thriller Broadchurch to Gilbert and Sullivan’s Victorian comic opera The Mikado at Sheringham Little Theatre.

Cat, whose partner is show stage director Miles Horner and whose work credits also include the TV series Boy Meets Girl and Citizen Khan, volunteered to use her skills to give the cast their white-faced make-overs ahead of the Mikado production by Opera Anywhere.

It saw a handful of talented youngsters enjoy the rare opportunity to perform alongside a professional cast.

Theatre director Debbie Thompson said:  “It was a great experience for the young people to perform alongside a professional cast – and learn make-up tips which will be useful as they go into their careers.”
