Jazz@theHub – Nat ‘King’ Cole at 100 - (Music)
24th March 2019

Nat “King” Cole would have been 100 years of age this month. He was one of the 20th century’s great jazz pianists and evolved into one of its most popular vocalists. He pioneered the piano jazz trio, i.e. piano, guitar and bass and brought another dimension to small group jazz. The songs tonight will include all-time favourites such as Let there be Love, Unforgettable, Route 66 and some lesser known songs from his trio days. Martin Eaton will be singing and playing tenor saxophone and the trio will be the outstanding Simon Brown (piano), Phil Brooke (guitar) and Jose Canha (bass).
