YOUTH THEATRE: OLIVE EDIS – A PICTURE OF INSPIRATION

FRIDAY 19TH MAY 2017, 7.30PM

Olive Edis was amongst the most talented photographers of her time – a trailblazer. Kings, prime ministers, bishops, suffragettes, fishermen, famous actors all sat for Olive Edis. She went on to become the first official war photographer touring northern Europe at the end of the First World War. This incredible woman lived and worked in Sheringham.

Working with Cromer Museum, who hold the largest collection of Olive Edis’ work in the world, this Sheringham Youth Theatre production tells the story of her life and explores the contrasts between a fascinating period in the art of photography and today’s social media and ‘selfie’ driven society.

The Olive Edis project at Cromer Museum has been supported by a grant from the Heritage Lottery Fund.
