Local favourite Greg Powles returns with new show.
2nd May 2019
One of our favourite visiting performers returns to Sheringham Little Theatre on Saturday 11th May for one night only. Greg Powles brings his new show ‘Behind the Microphone’, a show written and performed alongside long-time friend and radio colleague Jason Reynolds.
Over the last 15 years Greg has been delighting audiences with his easy-going, friendly style and ready wit. He first appeared at SLT in panto in 2005 when he starred as PC Pong in Aladdin – a brilliant performance which he followed up in 2006 with his role of Tin Man in The Wizard of Oz. Greg also lent his talents as a compere to several comedy nights, his own brand of ‘Whose Line Is It Anyway’, Sheringham Carnival talent competitions and the ‘Lights Up’ charity show in aid of Christmas lights for the town. He also wowed audiences with his uncanny impersonation of Jimmy Stewart when he introduced a screening of the yuletide family favourite ‘It’s A Wonderful Life’.
Whilst all of this was happening, Greg was also nurturing a career as a presenter on commercial radio and BBC radio. And that’s where the seeds of this brand-new show with Jason Reynolds were sewn. Greg and Jason have both presented breakfast radio shows, and both have been able to combine their love of broadcasting and sport. The two men both recognise how privileged they have been to do a job many people would love to do, but their show ‘Behind the Microphone’ sets out to reveal the reality of life when things go wrong. An honest expose of success, disaster and starting afresh, as well as letting us in on their best, and worst, celebrity encounters.
Tickets are available now for ‘Behind the Microphone’ (Saturday 11th May, 7.30pm).
