Mix of music and comedy kicks off 2021 live shows
22nd December 2020
The Little Theatre has a big name to usher in 2021. Our first live gig of the year is Richard Digance, the award winning folk and comedy performer.
Richard was due to retire from the live circuit at the end of 2020, but Covid circumstances changed all that and he has postponed the move until the end of 2021, which enables him to honour all his scheduled commitments.
So, as his website says, “the mothballs have been removed from his stage clothes, he’s bought a new set of guitar strings and filled up the petrol tank. So all systems are go” – for a tour including two 80-minute shows at the Little Theatre on Saturday January 9 at 4pm and 7.30pm.
Audiences will be limited to 40 in the 160-seater auditorium under social distancing safety restrictions, so people are urged to book as soon as possible for the New Year treat.
Richard is a firm favourite of Little Theatre audiences with his blend of humour and music. He is a BAFTA-nominated entertainer and won a Gold Award from the British Academy of Composers and Songwriters. He is also listed in the Virgin Anthology of Music as an influential writer of comedic songs.
He has released 31 albums, written 14 books and has nearly 5 million visits on YouTube. He also composed the songs and music for Bill Bryson’s best-selling audio CD book ‘The Road To Little Dribbling.’
Richard has also worked in America with movie star Steve Martin and recalls two of his greatest moments as playing The London Palladium with Robin Williams and a guitar duet on TV with Queen guitarist Brian May.
Off-stage he composes soundtracks and incidental music for TV and movies plus audio CD books.
