Sheringham Little Theatre & Norwich Jazz Club present: ‘Back To Birdland’ Celebrating the music of George Shearing With Simon Brown (piano), Nat Steele (vibraphone), Simon Hurley (guitar), Andy Staples (double bass), Neil Bullock (drums) and featuring special guest vocalist: Lizzie Blissett George Shearing, a working-class blind boy from Battersea grew up to become a brilliant US Grammy Award-winning jazz pianist and one of the best-selling jazz artists of all time. Simon Brown leads his quintet in a celebration of Shearing’s unique sound with a set that includes favourites such as Pick Yourself Up, September in The Rain and Lullaby of Birdland. Referencing the vocal as well as instrumental output, the quintet are delighted to be joined by special guest singer Lizzie Blissett to perform some of the best-loved tunes arising from Shearing’s collaborations with top artists including Peggy Lee and Nancy Wilson.
