Theatre sponsors treated to classic Python movie fun

What have the sponsors ever done for us?
Apart from … supporting everything Sheringham Little Theatre does – from drama, cinema and music, to live screenings and youth work.
Without our commercial sponsors this venue would not be able to stage the wide range of arts events that makes it a popular entertainment hub in north Norfolk.
So a screening of Monty Python’s The Life of Brian – with its classic ‘what have the Romans ever done for us’ sketch – was a great way of thanking existing sponsors and showcasing what we do to potential ones.
On screen the madcap movie, marking its 40th anniversary, served up its anarchic mix of Biblical Roman comedy, satire, silliness, and a whistle-along finale.
Off screen sponsors laughed along to the action and were savoured a buffet in appreciation of all they do.
Theatre director Debbie Thompson said that in the face of reducing financial support from hard-pressed councils, commercial sponsors were increasingly important in keeping the theatre balance books healthy.
“We really appreciate what our sponsors do in making a significant financial contribution, but also welcome them as part of our theatre family, sharing our fun and successes,” she added.
As part of a range of sponsorship packages available at the theatre, backers can also use the venue for corporate events to promote their company services in a welcoming setting with a difference.
Also on display were a collection of pictures of the Monty Python team, taken by celebrity photographer Andy Gotts from Sheringham, which will be auctioned for theatre funds.
