A brilliant Soviet submarine captain takes his nation’s newest and most advanced submarine on an unexpected course across the Atlantic. His actions alarm both the Soviet Union and the United States, each unsure of his intentions. As military forces mobilize on both sides, an American intelligence analyst becomes convinced there’s a deeper motive behind the captain’s move—and races to uncover the truth before rising tension triggers a dangerous international incident.
