Mystery at the Little Theatre: CSODS Stages And Then There Were None
Eight strangers are invited to a country house on a remote island expecting a party – but find themselves embroiled in murder, mystery, death and deception.
And Then There Were None is a chilling psychological thriller by Agatha Christie, which she regarded as her favourite work.
This month it is brought to the stage of the Little Theatre by our friends at the Cromer and Sheringham Operatic and Dramatic Society. It is their first ever foray into the world of whodunit guru Christie, who spent some of her writing time in north Norfolk.
The action is set in Devon in 1939, and guests are greeted the butler and housekeeper who explain that their hosts have not yet arrived. Events soon start to unravel as a gramophone recording accuses them of past crimes which they have escaped punishment.
The death toll rises as a children’s nursery rhyme counts down the survivors, while the guests work out who the killer is among them as the suspense and tension rises.
Nicola Gilbert, who is also appearing in a November production of Hay Fever for the Little Theatre Players, is making her debut as a CSODS director for this play and is very pleased with how rehearsals are going.
Her experienced cast is much enjoying working under her direction and bringing to life their different characters. They are Glen Hall (as Anthony Marston), Emma Galley (Ethel Rogers), Ray Tempesta (Blore), Simon Gilbert (Fred Narracott), Paul Minett (General John Mackenzie), Andrew Grey (Thomas Rogers), Amanda Howell (Emily Brent), Lee Johnson (Philip Lombard), Peter Howell (Sir Lawrence Wargrave), Lucy Connor (Vera Claythorne) and Robin Taylor (Dr Edward Armstrong).
The show runs from October 21-25, with CSODS having added an extra performance on Tuesday October 21. Very limited tickets remaining, act fast and book now.
