Talking Heads: Alan Bennett Double Bill

The Little Theatre Players are delighted to present an evening of two of Alan Bennett’s Talking Heads, ‘Bed Among The Lentils’ and ‘A Cream Cracker Under The Settee’.  

In ‘Bed Among The Lentils’,we meet Susan, who feels suffocated by the expectations forced on her by her position as a vicar’s wife and her husband’s over protective parishioners. In her quest for therapeutic alcohol,she finds unexpected solace with Mr. Ramesh, the owner of a Leeds corner shop off licence. 

 In ‘A Cream Cracker Under The Settee’, Doris, a fiercely independent widow, has just fallen while attempting to dust a picture hanging on the wall. Unable to move or get help, she reminisces about her life with dry humour,poignant memories and philosophical resignation. 

This time they will be performed in the theatre and ‘Bed Among The Lentils’ completes our performances of the first series of Alan Bennett’s brilliant monologues. Each one reflects his acutely observant view of loneliness and resilience, each one touching, real, funny and poignant

Both the 2:30PM and 7:30PM performances will feature both A Cream Cracker Under the Settee and A Bed Among the Lentils.
