Laughter show makes its Sheringham debut
A fun variety show is bringing its cocktail of laughter, magic and music to Sheringham for the first time.
If It’s Laughter You’re After sees popular all-round entertainer Olly Day teaming up with his long-standing friend comedy musician Nigel “Boy” Syer, and guest singer Eva Bridger. Olly and Nigel do double acts, including their famous fishermen’s finale, as well as solo spots showcasing Olly’s magic, ventriloquism and fine singing voice, plus Nigel’s comedy songs with a Norfolk flavour. Experienced cabaret singer Eve mixes powerhouse ballads with show songs.
The show has been going around 10 years, including regular performances at Gorleston Pavilion, but following Nigel’s retirement from full summer seasons is now on a “Norfolk World Tour’, explained Olly – including its first ever visit to Sheringham on July 19. “It’s a family-friendly variety style show like we used to have on old fashioned Saturday night telly. “Nigel is one of my dearest friends. We were born on the same road in Norwich, Sprowston Road, and have been performing together for years. “I like to think we have the same kind of relationship as Morecambe and Wise, where we know what each other is thinking – which comes in handy if one of us forgets something. We are like an old married couple!” Olly last performed at the Little Theatre 35 years ago hosting an evening with friends event in aid of the local lifeboat – and is looking forward to coming back to “see friends old and new.” If It’s Laughter You’re After is on Friday July 19 at 7.30pm.
