Trio of summer comedies mark a “smilestone” season
Our summer season is under starter’s orders – with a trio of comedies straining at the bit to celebrate a milestone year for Sheringham Little Theatre.
It is the 65th year we have hosted a summer season of drama, and we are proud to be one of the few remaining outposts of seasonal “repertory” where a small group of actors perform a range of roles, in what is considered to be a key training ground to hone their skills.
Cast members have been getting into character to showcase the fun with some cameo photo calls that give a flavour of the action which is odds on to be a winner with audiences.
The backdrops range from a day at the races for a group of girlfriends, and a disastrous dinner party for adulterous adults, to some friends’ well intentioned attempts to cheer up a bereaved fiancé.
Our season opens with Ding Dong, where two couples get caught up in a web of adultery, mistaken identity and plot twists (August 8-16).
It is followed by Ladies Day, when four fish filleters swap their overalls for posh frocks, flutters and flirts at the races (August 20-26).
And it is rounded off by Absent Friends, Alan Ayckbourn’s bittersweet comedy as friends seek to comfort recently-bereaved Colin get over the death of his fiancée (August 28 – September 6).
The shows are all 7.30pm, but all have two 2.30pm matinees. Tickets are on sale now via www.sheringhamlittletheatre.com or the box office on 01263 822347.
