Does Dan have a Darker Side?

He’s handsome, charming but also mysterious and chilling.

Meet Dan, who is at the heart of the psychological thriller Night Must Fall during the Sheringham Little Theatre summer season.

The suave stranger wins over elderly, embittered Mrs Bramson, and also has her niece in his sights.

But does he also harbour a secret? Emlyn Williams’ classic drama delves into the dangerous goings on in an isolated rural home in third summer drama opening on August 19.

Actor Jonathan Houlston, who plays Dan, said: “I’m really enjoying rehearsals and exploring the character of Dan who is a charming and mysterious chameleon. He’s not very literate but is very persuasive and manipulative.”

Welshman Jon is in at the deep end in his first summer repertory drama season, having previously appeared in UK tour of Farm Boy, a sequel to Michael Morpurgo’s acclaimed War Horse.

He is in all four Sheringham summer shows in a variety of roles – as the comedy bellhop in the Lend Me A Tenor farce, the dentist in Little Shop of Horrors, and environmental officer Richard in On the Edge.

“I’m loving the variety but particularly excited about playing Dan which is one heck of a role.”

The shows in the summer season are:
⦁ Lend Me a Tenor – a fast-paced comedy set in a hotel suite ahead of a major opera performance – (July 29-Aug 1, Aug 12-15, Aug 28-29)
⦁ Little Shop of Horrors – cult comedy horror rock musical featuring a killer plant in a run- down flower shop – (Aug 5-6, 8. 10-11. 24-25)
⦁ Night Must Fall – psychological thriller involving murder and manipulation in the home of a wealthy old woman – (Aug 19-21, 26-27)
⦁ On the Edge – premiere of the winner of SLT’s inaugural playwriting competition, a gentle comedy set in a clifftop home – (Sept 2-5)
