Natty’s Mission to Help a Clifftop Resident

Natty is a coastal community volunteer with a mission – to persuade a clifftop householder to leave his storm-threatened home.

You can see if she succeeds in On The Edge, the final show in Sheringham Little Theatre’s summer season.

The poignant comedy looks at the issues and characters in the fictional Norfolk village of Suffenham as it teeters on the erosion-hit coastline.

Actor Rachael Cummins, who plays Natty, said: “She’s a funny, larger-than-life character; a salt-of-the-earth Norfolk girl with a heart of gold and often unintentionally funny.

“She tries charm and strength to coax David out of his home and it’s great to see how their relationship develops.”

Rachael, who is a Little Theatre favourite, shows her versatility while appearing in all four summer shows; as energetic opera superfan in the

Lend Me a Tenor farce, a dry-witted Cockney maid in the thriller Night Must Fall and a mixture of minor parts from a nurse to a radio interviewer in the musical Little Shop of Horrors.

“It’s great playing so many different roles throughout the whole summer season, having only appeared in two dramas last year.”

On The Edge, written by Rob White from Gresham, runs from September 2-5. It is the first ever winner of the Theatre’s playwriting competition, launched by president and star actor Suranne Jones.

The shows in the summer season are:
⦁ Lend Me a Tenor – a fast-paced comedy set in a hotel suite ahead of a major opera performance – (July 29-Aug 1, Aug 12-15, Aug 28-29)
⦁ Little Shop of Horrors – cult comedy horror rock musical featuring a killer plant in a run- down flower shop – (Aug 5-6, 8. 10-11. 24-25)
⦁ Night Must Fall – psychological thriller involving murder and manipulation in the home of a wealthy old woman – (Aug 19-21, 26-27)
⦁ On the Edge – premiere of the winner of SLT’s inaugural playwriting competition, a gentle comedy set in a clifftop home – (Sept 2-5)
